Friday 26th May, the final job for Team Exterior Plas, and by far the most enjoyable.
Organiser Carol Burton said, “ it was important that we recognized the great work done by Team Exterior Plas, and the conclusion of their journey was celebrated on a beautiful sunny afternoon in the presence of colleagues, clients, suppliers and family members. We held an “Afternoon Tea & Bubbles” soiree at the local village hall, when everyone came together to congratulate the team. During this presentation, Carol told the story of the team’s adventure, from the original idea with only 2 weeks to prepare, to their journey end, when, arriving safely back at base, and to thank the guides and porters, they donated their whole kit to them, jackets, gloves, hats and medical supplies. A truly lovely gesture that was so gratefully received.
We were delighted to welcome the regional manager for Help for Heroes, Carole Groves. The team presented Carole with a very impressive cheque for £11,600.00 who was thrilled to accept this on behalf of this amazing charity. Carole thanked all those that had been involved in this impressive challenge and told us of the great work that is carried out at the rehabilitation centres throughout the country, and where the donations to the charity are used. This was accompanied by a powerful presentation video with very moving accounts by the service men and women who are rebuilding their lives following such devastating injuries.
Andy Sheen said “ Fulfilling such an ambition is an incredible thing, but doing it with such great people and being able to raise money for such a marvelous charity makes it even more worthwhile. We could not all fail to be touched by the Help for Heroes presentation video, and its humbling to think that our efforts will help such a worthwhile cause, and a big thank you needs to go to all of those who supported us”
So, what’s next ? Well the next ‘big’ thing in the diary is undoubtedly the union of Lovisa and Jason as they prepare for their wedding at the end of July. We wish them an amazing day and a lifetime of happiness.
